At Scandinavian Marbella Homes (SMH), we are always thrilled to share the vibrant cultural heartbeat of the Costa del Sol — and few events showcase the spirit of this region better than the Feria de La Cala de Mijas. From July 22 to 27, 2025, the charming coastal town of La Cala will once again burst into life with one of the summer’s most joyful and beloved traditions.
Dedicated to the town’s patron saint, Santiago Apóstol, the Feria de La Cala blends traditional Andalusian roots with a modern, inclusive spirit — offering something for everyone, whether you’re a lifelong local or a recent arrival discovering all the area has to offer.
From Tradition to Celebration
The feria kicks off on Tuesday, July 22, with a spectacular street parade at 19:30. Picture this: giants and big-headed figures, folk bands, and a sea of color and music winding through La Cala’s streets — a living homage to Spain’s rich cultural history. As the procession reaches the Recinto Ferial, the mayor and the Grandfather and Grandmother of the Feria will ceremoniously switch on the official lights at 22:30, illuminating the fairground and setting the tone for six days of celebration.
That same evening, La Cala honours its elders with a tribute dinner for 300 seniors, featuring a live performance by popular singer Manuel Orta — a heartfelt reminder of the community values that underpin this vibrant town.
Entertainment for All Ages
From Wednesday, July 23, the fair truly comes alive for all ages. Starting at 19:00, children take center stage with dance performances led by Victor Rojas’ students, followed by a delightful Disney Rock concert at 21:00. The excitement continues with the crowning of the baby and children’s kings and queens, making it a magical evening for the youngest in the community.
Later, at 22:30, the spotlight shifts to the glamorous gala presentation of the candidates for the fair queen, king, and escorts — all followed by a lively concert by El Tren de los Sueños at the municipal marquee, free of charge until full.
Meanwhile, the Youth Marquee, La Alegría Pura, offers a nightly DJ lineup and energetic entertainment, giving the younger crowd a space to celebrate with friends in their own way.
Inclusivity, Safety, and Daytime Festivities
This year’s feria proudly continues its commitment to inclusivity, offering quiet hours from 19:00 to 21:00 for visitors with autism spectrum disorder. It’s a thoughtful touch that reflects the evolving and caring spirit of La Cala’s community.
For those who love a daytime celebration, don’t miss the Feria de Día at El Torreón, running daily from 13:00 to 20:00. With live music, food stalls, and family-friendly games, the daytime fair keeps the festive energy flowing all afternoon long.
Of course, with more than 100 security personnel on-site, safety remains a top priority — ensuring that everyone can relax and enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.
